Poon has now taken a one-point lead as in the last round he savaged Justin Parsons, while Prescod who seemed in control of his game against Kemp Lynch saw the match slowly slip from his grasp and eventually he fell to defeat. With this loss Prescod also slipped to second spot on six and a half points.

Alternatively Lynch’s good luck has now pushed him into fourth spot on six points along with international master Delisle Warner. Warner who had a cold beginning to his tournament has now put together five consecutive victories to put himself back in contention.

With three rounds left the action is beginning to heat up and it will reach scorching point in the next round when the leader Poon clashes with Prescod who is in second place.

The tournament will climax this Thursday at the Bridgetown Chess Center, Cavans Lane.
