Update-Body discovered in St George

Police and fire officials have recovered a decomposing body from a ravine at Rolling Hills, St George.

Police Public Relations Officer David Welch confirmed tonight that the discovery was made just after 7 p.m. by lawmen who were assisted by fire officials in pulling the body from the grassy terrain around 9:30 p.m.

Lawmen are yet to positively identify the body believed to be that of a woman.

However, the discovery follows the disappearance of 75-year-old Marcelle Smith on October 13.

Just yesterday, Smith’s family doubled a financial reward offered for news of her whereabouts from $5,000 to $10,000 after an intense search by lawmen this week for the Farm Road, St Philip resident proved futile.

Family members were not immediately available for comment tonight. However, her daughter Tanya has been insistent that her elderly mother had not wandered off from home but was the victim of a crime.

“We have evidence of the crime that unfolded and an accurate timeline of event. The electronic footprint for our mother . . . has enabled us to do this. We know multiple people are involved,” Smith said on Friday.

Too late. We turned our back on God. Now he’s leaving us to fall upon our own workings. We’re reaping what we sow

How terribly insensitive and lacking in compassion for one who talks about God. What does this have to do with God? Is this the first homocide that ever occurred in Barbados? And did all of the others signify that God was turning his back on us?

I am appalled that anyone claiming to believe in the teaching of God and his son could be so bereft of the love Jesus taught us to cultivate for our neighbour.

But then He did warn us that there would be many imposters.

so wrong Olu, you have missed the point

      • allison archer October 25, 2015 at 8:52 am

Thomas Katt tell it like it is the TRUTH, These people need to understand the Living Creator is a GOD of Justice not only Love, you can’t live on earth howsoever you like, only acknowledging God when crime is abounding,
no the Living God left commands for all of us to obey, all this earthly love these people are attributing to GOD is demonic for He says ” if you love me obey my commandments”

        • Olutoye Walrond October 25, 2015 at 9:18 am

So, what then: if we were all God fearing people living lives of obedience to Him then Mrs. Smith would be alive today?

What really is it you people are saying?

          • allison archer October 25, 2015 at 5:52 pm

Olutoye Walrond I have to start from the beginning. God in His Wisdom created mankind as His prized possession however man decided we want to be like God and believed the lie from the devil and that is where sin entered into our lives
all of us have inherited this sinful nature from the first married couple and GOD went about to redeem mankind from sin
first God give the written law to Moses that man will know what sin was but that law could not deal with man’s heart ,it was all on the physical so God sent His Son Jesus to die for all, to bring us back to Him
and in Jesus is life, resurrection life
mankind could only live again through Jesus by true, sincere repentance of sin, we have to turn away from the world to Him, confess we are sinners, we don’t have the 10 commandments any more to follow but we have His law written on our hearts that we could actually obey Him, it is an inner work now for He has taken out the heart of stone inherited from Adam and given Christians a heart of flesh of Jesus
that’s why there is so much crime (sin) in the world because man continue to serve God outwardly through the law and its impossible, for this adamic nature hates God that’s why Christians have tools to break this nature down.
Jesus Christ can make us whole but we have to turn away from this present evil world through sincere repentance
I pray that you hear me that you can be one with your Maker.

Just to substantiate what Mr Walrond said: a few months back, we heard the story coming out of South Carolina, at least one of the two Carolinas, where 9 black folks, including the preacher, were gunned down in, of all places, a church. These holier-than-thou folks need to ask what did these 9 folks do wrong to suffer such a fate?

  18. jrsmith October 25, 2015 at 11:34 am

You so call Christians , just go on about god, just an excuse to avoid ,taking responsibility for your bad attitude and immoral behaviour. most of you just run and hide scared of anything. you all talk god when it suites you , so easy, wait and see what’s the evidence , whether criminal or not.

Any one can live, anywhere they choose , and do what they want. god of justice to whom , are you forgetting centuries of physical slavery and the new generation age of mental slavery.to us blacks. that’s why we are always, at the same cross roads waiting, and wondering. where to turn, what to do , waiting on who ,ourselves to wake up smell the coffee.

  19. Menace II Babylon October 25, 2015 at 11:57 am

Religion or faith has nothing to do with the prelude to this offence. You choose to lean on a plagiarised religion when it is an individual choice to commit this heinous act. To the educated and unbiased crime is fluent and it travels and many offences are viewed as opportunistic. My condolences to the family in their time of grieve.

How do you know God/creator is a he? Because they said so? You are too involved in religion to be spiritual conscious and aware.

Jus a quick question is this the same God that assisted us when we were treated worse than the common dog during slavery, the same God that assisted us when we were beaten, sodomised, raped, where infant molestation was the norm, the same God that that said we are destined to be slaves in the curse of Canaan, maybe it is the same God that helped us when we were tortured, hanged for their lurid picnic purposes, maybe it’s the god that assisted us in the Civil Rights to get the opportunity to be listed as a human being, to be educated, walk in all white establishments etc. We seek excuses for behaviour with the expectation that their is none besides sexual or financial.

Your God had nothing to do with Barbados loosing its values, norms and social customs. It varies on a variety of factors, parenting, education, discipline, the dominate influence of the media on young minds where parents don’t make a clear distinction between reality and fiction, globalisation the cheap sale of contraband etc. Please show the family some respect and stop seeking answers for mans corrupt ideals.

Any country, any given place, time or reason. I went school at Deighton Griffith and a peer who I went school with raped and threw a young primary school girl in a well and then proceeded to throw a huge soft stone on her. Did him being a sound Christian going church every Sunday to listen to stories of hope not contradict any immoral thoughts? My close Freind had her throat slashed by an ex boyfriend and has been dead for over 13 years. Be realistic and be rational. To go learn bout a plagiarised white man to save us? You if your Bajan you don’t even know your ancestral lineage and can’t name one African god but can insist ludicrous theories. The church has done nothing for your generation but to create subservient slaves to Rome. This generation has awakened and won’t contribute to pastors third home or his deans new car.

Show some respect offer your condolences in their time of need instead of seeking reasons why. Unfortunately opportunistic offenders don’t need a reason just the opportunity.

  20. arjun October 25, 2015 at 2:24 pm

Menace to Babylon i agree with you.We need to get rid of RELIGION and deal with SPIRITUALITY. Bajans are too brainwashed and they are playing the game of DEATH and not that of LIFE.
