Barbados’ newest centenarian

Barbados’ newest centenarian Inna Ernestine Howard was the centre of attention at the Golden Towers Nursing Home, Welches Gardens, St Michael today.

Howard was happy and full of joy and excitement when she received a visit from Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave, as well as family and friends who celebrated the milestone with her.

Those gathered were impressed with her ability to read the birthday card delivered to her by Sir Elliott on behalf of the Queen.

However, Howard said reading those few congratulatory lines was easy, as she often read the fine print from her Bible to other residents at the nursing home.

The mother of two, who worked as a seamstress, canteen manager and in the area of room service at the old Hilton Hotel told Barbados TODAY she began counting down to this day since the beginning of September.

“I feel blessed. I am happy. I lived a good life,” the former community worker declared. (AH)

The card should have some lbs in it so she can buy herself a drink.
