Food and Volleyball Festival gets going

The Caribbean Food and Volleyball Festival commenced today at the Sir Garfield Sobers Gymnasium where action is expected to heat up from tomorrow and into the third and final day on Sunday.

A few schools came out to watch and among those were Sharon Primary and St Lawrence.

Several teams took to the court this morning to compete in the preliminary round of the volleyball competition with BDS$3,000 up for grabs. Among those in the men’s category were Progressive, Deacons and All Stars along with overseas-based teams Enforcers, Big Sepos and Venus.

Meanwhile the women’s teams contesting are Deacons, West Side Stars, Chargers, All Ah We and Rebelz. The semi-finals will be contested tomorrow starting at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively. Both the men’s and women’s final will take place on Sunday at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. followed by the closing ceremony.
