Gittens wins silver in 100 metres

Ramon Gittens picked up Barbados’ second medal at the Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada.

Barbados has picked up their second medal at the Pan American Games.

Sprinter Ramon Gittens finished second in the men’s 100 metres today at the Games which are being held in Toronto, Canada.

Gittens, running out of lane seven, clocked 10.07 seconds, coming in just behind eventual winner Andre DeGrasse, who was timed at 10.05 seconds.

DeGrasse’s father is Barbadian Alex Waithe, while his mother, Beverley DeGrasse is a Trinidadian.

Antoine Adams of St Kitts and Nevis was third in 10.09.

Barbados’ other contestant in the race Levi Cadogan finished a disappointing eighth in 10.16 seconds.

Gittens’ medal added to the bronze medal which Akela Jones picked up in the high jump.
