Fans, voting on Facebook for their favourite songs from 62 entries, selected the finalists.

“We are happy with the strong response of the fans who chose their favourites. We fully expect the contest to heat up over the next week,” says Barbados TODAY Chief Executive Officer Kaymar Jordan.

Noting that the competition had attracted significant interest from both at home and abroad, Jordan revealed that special arrangements had been made to accommodate overseas entrants.

“Barbadians abroad have been equally excited about the Superstar competition and we can’t leave them out. As a result we have decided to allow those overseas-based entrants to vie for a separate prize; so they will have their own contest of sorts. The same rules apply.

“With the support of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), that lucky entrant will be home for Crop Over.”

A fresh round of voting opens on Wednesday at www.facebook.com/barbadostoday.

During this stage, the top ten are allowed to enter a new song, or submit an enhanced
or remixed version of their original entry.

The winner, who will take home $15,000 in cash and free car and home insurance, compliments of Consumers’ Guarantee Insurance (CGI), will be crowned on August 1 at the Pic-O-De-Crop Finals. The artiste placing second receives $7,500, while $5,000 goes to the finalist who places third.
