Foundation trounce Combermere

A knock of 63 from opener Danyl Husbands helped Christ Church Foundation School to register victory by 110 runs over Nicholls Baking Combermere in the Sir Garfield Sobers Schools Cricket Tournament at Friendship, St Michael today.

Foundation won the toss and posted 218 for nine from their allotted 40 overs with a second-wicket partnership of 71 between Husbands and number three batsman Joshua Corbin who scored 38. In response Combermere crumbled to 108 all out in 27.3 overs.

Jermain Davis was also in form and hit 41 for Foundation. Bowling for Combermere Hasani Newton captured three wickets for 52 runs off six overs. Anthony Manning- Merritt claimed three for 45 from five overs.

When Combermere batted opener Dashawn Sylvan top scored with 29, all-rounders Joshua Cooke made 18 and Runeko Layne and Newton made 12 each.

Corbin picked three wickets for five with the ball from two overs. Shakeem Blades also impressed with his eight overs for 16 claiming three wickets.

Shomari Gibson took two for 16 off four overs to take Foundation’s stats up to five games, three wins and two losses. Combermere has so far played five games, won one, lost three with one rained out.
