Pan time at Ilaro

The ‘hills’ of Ilaro Court came alive last night with the sweet sounds of pan music, signalling the start to a ‘pan-tastic’ weekend.

Not even the rain could stop the show.

Despite intermittent rain showers, hundreds turned out for the First Citizens Pan Fusion and the Pantasy after party, held under the patronage of Prime Minister Freundel Stuart.

David ZigE Walcott and his band brought the house down.

The show, which was billed as The Battle of the Sexes, featured performances from the Women from Venus, including Iman Pascall and Kabilah Delgado from USA, as well Elan Trotman and Kareem Thompson, who were among the Men from Mars.

Trotman also paid special tribute to Arturo Tappin, the man he described as his mentor, and who was credited for coming up with the theme of the night’s show.

Man of Earth, David ZigE Walcott and his band brought the house down. ZigE, who showed off his many skills on the steel pan, was the main crowd pleaser.

The after party featured Farmer Nappy from the twin island republic Trinidad and Tobago, as well as local veteran Blood, who was backed by the Karibbean Kentic Band.
