16 Junior finalists named

The 16 finalists in the Junior Monarch competition have been chosen, and the audience approves.

When the finalists — eight in each of the two categories — were announced just after midnight, loud cheers erupted from those who remained to hear the results.

The only question that was heard coming from members of the crowd as they filed out the Lester Vaughn School auditorium was why Confetti was a reserve in the 13-18 category. Other than that, the judges’ picks were pleasing to the crowd.

However, disappointment was evident on the face of J’Tanya, the reserve in the 8-12 category, as she blinked back tears while posing for a group photo. Another 8-12 contestant who did not make the cut, had to be consoled by his parents in the car park.

Those advancing in the 8 -12 category to challenge reigning monarch Raanan were: Dynamo, A@lee-aah, Browne Star, Starburst, Keke Boo, Star Diamond, Liana and Sarai. The reserve is J’Tanya.

The finalist going for to meet reigning Queen Sammy G in the 13 to 18 category are: A-Dee-Lah, De Overcomer, Nubian Queen, Quinn P, Raheem, RJ, Sparkle T and Lady Tii. The reserve is Confetti.
