Welches Primary School has used its Facebook page to send tributes to a former student who died in a car crash on Friday.

Abijah Holder, 11, was killed while on his way home from his graduation on Friday, when the car he was travelling in overturned on the Tom Adams section of the ABC Highway.

Holder, who would have been attending Queen’s College in September, was remembered in both photos as well as sterling tributes which were posted on the page.

Followers used the opportunity to send condolences to Holder’s family as well as to the school.

The school also changed its Facebook profile picture to one which read ‘R.I.P.’

One of the posts which was published yesterday read: “This morning, it is with great sadness that I publish this post. After having such a wonderful day at graduation, with little to zero glitches, with all smiles all day, we were alas greeted with the very tragic news. One of our own was taken from us. Our smiles quickly turned to tears. Only God has the answers as to why such a tragedy occurred on such a wonderful day. Fly with the angels Abijah!”

Another post by Skylar Prince stated, “This is unimaginable! A bright light has dimmed, a strong effervescent voice has been silenced. Abijah sweetie, Miss Prince will never forget you. Rest in peace, sweet child!”

Another sad story of loss. Seems like that is all we are reading about in Barbados these days. I believe a lot of people maybe questioning God at this time wondering where He is and why He is allowing such things to happen. We must be careful not to doubt Him though, for His ways are not our ways. Even if we believe as Job did that He is the cause of our suffering, we should say ”though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him”. To the grieving relatives may the eternal God who is our refuge grant you the strength to carry on.

It is so hurtful and painful to see that lustre smile and the thought of your sudden and unfortunate demise. This is a human tragedy beyond comprehension. After the fun, and joy at your graduation, and your great expectation of moving on to Secondary School, the enemy death take you away. My condolences to mom, dad ,sis and family and your close friends . RIP Bro and rise in glory.

So sad to hear this tragic news. I have travelled on the ABC Highway bus with this lad many times. A charming, confident and well mannered lad. Our last conversation was at Warrens while we waited for the bus to travel back to Oistins and he was telling me about his dreams, and hopes that he would pass for his chosen school and join his sibling. I shall miss him.
