Last-minute clincher

A brilliant last-minute goal by Shakobe Brathwaite allowed Milton Lynch Primary to take bragging rights over St Angela’s with a 1-0 result today in the BICO-sponsored National Sports Council’s Primary Schools Football Tournament.

Just when the zone 7 game looked as though it was heading for a draw at Briar Hall, Christ Church, Brathwaite found that all important goal to keep his team alive in the competition. The special moment came when there was a fumble in front the bars and Brathwaite got a touch on to the ball which beat the goalkeeper. In the moment of excitement Milton Lynch supporters began to celebrate as though they had just won the title.

At the same venue St Winifred’s defeated Wills Primary 2-0 thanks to goals from Lance Clermont and Lee Blades. St Gabriel’s School also continued to keep their chances alive thanks to striker Ryan Lashley and Jilani Gillens who both scored against St Christopher Primary in the 2-1 result. Malique Jones scored his team’s lone goal. St Bartholomew’s went down 3-0 to Arthur Smith Primary in the same zone.

Two matches were played today in zone five and Workman’s Primary won their game 1-0 against Mount Tabor. Cuthbert Moore Primary also managed a 1-0 victory over St Jude’s Primary at Greens.

Playing at home Ellerton Primary draw 0-0 against St Margaret’s Primary.

In zone two St Stephen’s brushed aside Good Shepherd 3-0 at Bagatelle and over at Trents, St James St Alban’s Primary won 2-0 against St James. Meanwhile St Matthew’s Primary and West Terrace Primary played to a 0-0 draw.
