Adieu to Director

Prime Minister Freundel Stuart headed a gathering of mourners at the Church Of The Nazarene in Collymore Rock, St Michael, to bid adieu to popular folk singer and calypsonian Michael Director Forde.

Also attending today’s funeral were members of Forde’s family, the songwriter’s many friends and the calypso fraternity, several of whom, who would have performed with him over the years.

Among the calypsonians present were Mighty Gabby –– who paid tribute in song with a touching rendition of the Lord’s Prayer, Grynner, Kid Site, Pompey, Poser, Lord Radio, Destroyer, Ronnie D, Colin Spencer, De Hawk and Sir Don.

After the service, Director, who became well known for his hit calypso Soucie, was laid to rest at Westbury Cemetery.
