Robber refuses Verdun House

COURT TODAY BLOCKAfter robbing a man of a cellular phone and $2, Rico Akeem Hepburn told the victim “Go along and keep
yuh life”.

Hepburn, of Gills Road, Roebuck Street, St Michael, confessed to robbing Fabian Connell last September 3, when he appeared before Acting Magistrate Alliston Seale.

Hepburn, who also admitted he had a drug problem, was remanded to the Psychiatric Hospital until March 23.

However, when Hepburn returned to court today, a representative from Verdun House said they would
not be accepting him since he had “no interest in Verdun House”.

When Hepburn addressed the court, he explained that “the reason I refuse Verdun House is because I spend six or nine months away from my son” (since being on remand).

“Oh, so you want it to favour you?” asked Seale.

“No Sir…but they have walk-in programmes and other things I could do Sir.”

Hepburn was remanded until April 20.

Last month, Hepburn asked the court for help after saying  that he had smoked crack cocaine before the incident. Although he ended up with the phone, Hepburn said he could not remember having a knife.
