KOMI thief jailed

COURT TODAY BLOCKAfter confessing that he stole a $10 000 tent and a garbage can belonging to Kensington Oval Management Incorporated (KOMI), a St Michael man was today jailed for a year.

When Devon Mario Sampson, 35, of Chapman Lane, the City,  went before Magistrate Graveney Bannister in the District A Court, he also admitted having a drug problem and asked for help.

Referring to his criminal record, the magistrate told Sampson that he “already had five chances”. All of Sampson’s previous convictions were for theft or burglary.

Sampson said even though he did not do so previously, he was “asking for a chance now”.

“What were you going to do with the tent?” the magistrate asked him.

“I don’t know Sir. I don’t know why I took it up in the first place.”

The convict further said that he drinks alcohol and has been using cocaine for the past 15 years.
