Blue bounce back

The last shall be first and in this instance Gilkes “Blue” House were first this time around with 811 points when the curtains came down today at Parkinson Memorial inter-house sports day at the National Stadium.

Gilkes House who came last in 2014 redeemed themselves this year to win ahead of Howard “Yellow” House who came second with 647, and last year champions Barnett “Green” House who were third with a tally of 629 points. Husband “Red” House settled for fourth position with 559 points.

Despite a good day on the track from Gilkes it was Barnett who captured both the junior and senior victrix ludorum titles. Tyra Roberts of Barnett House was the senior victrix with 52 points in the under-20 girls. She won the 100m, 200m, 400m and long jump but came second in the javelin and fifth in the discus.

Mason on the other hand in the under-15 girls scored a total of 58 points and her tally were accumulated in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, shot put, all of which she won. In the long jump Mason came second.

The senior victor went to under-20 boys division champion Shaka Phillips of Howard who tallied 54 which came about through great effort in the 1500m and long jump which he won. Phillips was second in the 100m and shot put and was third in the 200m, javelin and discus.

Meanwhile Tyrique Harewood captured the junior victor ludorum title with 33 points for Husbands House. Harewood delivered big wins in the 400m and 800m but came second in the shot put and fourth in the 100m.
