UWI Cave Hill gets female principal

Professor Eudine Barriteau is tipped to succeed Sir Hilary Beckles on May 1 as the new principal of the Cave Hill campus of the University of the West Indies.

Her appointment was approved by the Finance and General Purposes Committee of the UWI in Jamaica last Friday and is expected to be ratified in April.

Eudine BarriteauThe former head of the UWI’s Centre for Gender and Development Studies for 15 years and deputy principal of the Cave Hill campus was appointed last August to head up the Open Campus here.

She will be succeeded in that post by Luz Longsworth, who previously served as director of the western Jamaica campus at UWI.
