Elderly man killed in road accident

A 76-year-old man was killed today when the car he was driving collided with another vehicle at the junction of Bennetts and Sandy Lane Roads, St James.

Denis Wentworth-Linton, of Barracks Hill, Christ Church, died this evening at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, following the 2:55 pm collision with a truck driven by James Boyce, 51, of Kingsland, Christ Church.

The accident led to the closure of a section of Highway 1.

According to police, members of the Barbados Fire Service had to extricate Wentworth-Linton who was trapped in his car.

He was reported to have lacerations to his head, right shoulder and back.

The elderly man was transported by ambulance to the QEH where he later succumbed to his injuries.

    My Father-in-law Denis was my very good friend, he was a wonderful grandfather to my young sons. They have benefited from his wisdom and he showed them to do so many things from electronics to engineering. He and Pam have been so caring to them. We are all saddened and miss him greatly.
