Easy wins for duo

Graydon Sealy and Combermere victorious in their matches

Graydon Sealy Secondary and Combermere posted relatively easy wins in the WIBISCO 2014 Senior Girls Basketball Tournament played this afternoon.

While Graydon Sealy defeated Harrison College 38-23 in their own backyard, the Waterford-based school beat Foundation 38-17.

Playing at the Crumpton Street courts, Graydon Sealy took the sting out of the hosts from early, thanks to Latifah Wood who scored 14 points and Shonica Wharton who scored 10.

Graydon Sealy led 8-6 after the first quarter with Wood scoring four points, and the visitors had extended their advantage at half-time, 17-8.

Harrison College only managed to score two points in the third quarter compared to Graydon Sealy’s 12, leaving the score at 29-10, going into the decisive quarter.

Wood unfortunately suffered from a bit of cramp in the final quarter but Graydon Sealy did not lose focus and finished the game with the player returning in the latter stages.

In the other game at Church Hill, Sheniqua Thomas and Tayana Walrond scored 12 points each to lead the visitors past the hosts.

No Foundation player reached double figures.
