Titans clash washed out

Not even the titans were spared the wrath of the rain this time around.

The persistent rains which bombarded the island over the weekend, brought a premature end to last night’s quarter-final matches in the Massy United Insurance Clash of the Titans road tennis competition.

With just one of the six scheduled matches completed, a heavy downfall around 8:30 p.m brought an end to any further play.

Organizers eventually called off play 15 minutes later, with both the court and playing area soaked.

Those matches have now been rescheduled for tonight.

There was still enough time however for Keon Murrell to book his spot in the final four of the juniors competition.

The Lester Vaughan student turned back a stern challenge from Ezekial Ward to win 21-9, 16-21, 21-17.

He will now await the winner of the match between Darius “Barracus” Gaskin and Justin Hinds.

Darius “Baraccus” Gaskin will be looking to dispose of Justin Hinds and advance to the semifinals.

That match was interrupted by rain with Gaskin having won the first set and leading 4-3 in the second.

In tonight’s matches, Aaron Barker will play Curtis Jones first up and that will be followed by Mark “Venom” Griffith against Emar Edwards.

Crowd thriller Antoine “Lil Man” Daniel will then battle David Arendell, before Julian “Michael Jackson” White and Dario Hinds play in the night cap.
