Drop in fuel prices

Effective midnight, Barbadians will be paying slightly less for petroleum products.

The retail price of gasoline decreases from $3.62 to $3.57 per litre.

The price of diesel also moves from $2.87 to $2.78, down by nine cents; while the retail price of kerosene will be 14 cents less at $1.61, down from $1.75.

In a statement, Government also said that a mechanism was now in place to adjust petroleum prices in a more timely fashion. It explained that prices will be regulated by the Ministry of Commerce and Trade on the advice of the Division of Energy and Telecommunications.

“This mechanism is now in use and price changes will be more frequent (i.e., up or down) in accordance with the imported price of petroleum products,” the statement added. (BGIS)

The only country in the west that continues to charge such astronomical prices for fuel and petroleum products.

If de people didn’t complain it wouldn’t be coming down. What has happened to cause the change of heart? They should stop carrying people for a ride, get their priorities right and stop trying to squeeze as much as they can from people.

Still too expensive-how many litres to make 1 gallon? In the US u could pay as little as 2.49 a gallon-this govt continues to rip the eyes from the heads of its citizens.

Those tricksters now drop the price now that oil on the international market is about to rise again.

When we should have been getting a drop followed by another drop when the price was dropping on the International market, the Government DELIBERATELY delayed the drop to around this time to make it look good, and judging from the comments, some of us were caught hook, line and sinker.

I would bet house, land, car and some pigs and cows that the next statement WILL be about an INCREASE in prices whether the price remains as it is,falls or rises.

Wake up people, note the trend from its inception .It was always drop …increase…drop….increase

Is the government still doing checks to ensure the pumps are correctly calibrated? I ask this because i don’t trust gas stations, simple……I believe most managers are in it for maximum profits and would cut every corner known to man. Also, when the price drops, then increases to more than it was before, does that mean they make more, and what we think is a great savings is merely a sly business trick?

Stupsse. These politicians must think we foolish. In October they raised the price by 10c and now drop it by 5c. World oil prices continue to drop and are now down to $75 per barrel compared to $113 four months ago.

Why is this foolishness going on it it total highway robbery. Why is the fuel adjustment not just done at the point of purchase of said fuel shipments and when the next delivery is ordered things at the pump can and should be made to reflect said changes.
Why is it that our prices jump all over the place when we do not even get monthly fuel deliveries and yet our pump prices can change at any time…… I will stand here and cry “NO FAIR !!!”
