Saturday Calypso Finals

Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley has announced a permanent change for the Pic-O-De-Crop Finals competition.

Traditionally, the Finals contest has been held on the last Friday night of the annual Crop Over Festival, along with the Foreday Morning Jam.

However, addressing last night’s Crop Over Awards Ceremony at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination, Lashley announced that the Finals will be permanently switched to the Saturday following Foreday.

“We have decided that the 2015 Foreday Morning Jam will be held on Friday, July 31 and the Pic-O-De-Crop Finals will take place on Saturday, August 1,” he said, noting that threatening bad weather had forced a rescheduling of this year’s Finals. He said it gave organisers a “test run” for what is now a permanent amendment.
