Kingdom Arts Festival on

The Life 97.5 FM Kingdom Arts Festival kicks off this weekend in Barbados with a host of activities. Kingdom Arts, hosted by Island Worship, which in the past was responsible for events such as Awake, O City and a number of conferences in Barbados and Trinidad, is now in its fifth year.

Visionary Kevin Campbell says this national week-long festival is set to display God’s beauty through the arts. The focus of Kingdom Arts is on music, fashion, dance, culinary and visual arts. Aside from the workshops, this year Kingdom Arts introduces a whole spectrum of impactful practical activities.

These include an original Kingdom Arts Worship CD themed Beautiful, a Prayer Room Experience, Visual & Culinary Experience, Kingdom Fashion showcase and an intriguing panel discussion called Live Talk, dealing with Industry Versus Ministry. Director of the 2014 festival, Kayrie Rice-Smith, says the usual staples on the calendar can still be expected, such as Glow Worship and the dynamic workshops.

She said this year Kingdom Arts would be introducing breakfast to the Saturday morning workshops.

A number of key personnel have been instrumental in bringing this festival to reality. Leading up to the festival there has been casting calls for the models in the fashion show and workshops for designers. Rice-Smith said there would be a high level of quality and excellence associated with the festival as the theme Beautiful would be showcased in everything that was done throughout the festival.

The festival begins with an Opening Ceremony this Sunday at New Dimensions Ministries, followed by a Prayer Room Experience on Sunday evening at 6:30 at the same location. Rice-Smith said it was extremely important to contend for the arts through prayer.

“For too long, the arts have been used for negative, that it has come to the point where Christians believe that they are not to be involved in fashion and music because it has been polluted,” said the passionate worshipper and evangelist. Rice-Smith said she and her team were determined to demonstrate how the arts could be used to glorify God.

Tickets for the Visual & Culinary Experience and the Kingdom Fashion may be obtained at all locations of Things Gospel, while registration for the Saturday workshops may be done on the morning of the workshops.
