Sammy G takes Junior crown again

Sammy G has been crowned the 2014 Junior Monarch champion.

Singing My Tribute, she reclaimed the coveted title which she last won in 2011, as well as the top prize of $2500, the trophy and a Samsung tablet following Saturday night’s show.

Sammy G, who is a student of the Barbados Community College, has been performing this year with the House of Soca.

Friday night she also competed in the semifinals of the senior competition, but only managed to secure a reserve position in the finals of the Pic-o-de-Crop calypso competition on August 1.

Second place in the Junior Monarch contest went to Ah-Dee-Lah while DJ was third in the 13-18 category.

In the 8 -12 category, the winner was Raanan singing No Daddy. Second place went to Dynamo and Black Beauty was third.

I am sure the judges are tone deaf. We watched the semi-finals on CBC stream online in the UK the young man Jamal Slocombe performance was excellent and the best we have seen in a long time. A Born natural, he wrote his lyrics, when he sang you could hear every word clearly, he command the stage like a professional. When are you itswhoyouknow hyphebated persons going to learn to be fair and give credit where it is due? You all know he is good. One thing I know for sure God is wide awake.
