Barbadians on drug charges

Three Barbadians, charged in connection with the discovery of 10 pounds of cannabis in a refrigerator compressor imported from Jamaica, are due to return to court on July 8.

Thirty-three-year old Ian Antonio Babb of Kendall Hill B, Christ Church; Shawn Anthony Ricardo Scantlebury, 36, of 1st Avenue Fairfield, Black Rock, St. Michael; and Dave Anderson Codrington, 30, of Bannister Land, Martindales Road, St. Michael were not required to enter a plea when they appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court today.

The three have been charged with acts preparatory to trafficking cannabis, conspiracy to import cannabis and trafficking. In addition, Codrington has been charged with importation of cannabis. The drug was reportedly found during a joint operation by the Drug Squad and Customs Enforcement.

They were put on $45,000 bail each with one surety and had to surrender their passports.
