Champion dies

A champion of the disabled community and a familiar face on Barbadian roads is no more.

President of the Paralympic Association, Wesley Worrell passed away at hospital in the wee hours of this morning.

Worrell was a well known champion in the wheelchair category of the RUN Barbados marathon.

Reacting to his death, President of the Council for the Disabled, Senator Kerryann Ifill said “a giant in the disabled community has passed”.

    a true patriot. a man of undying love for country , community and family. born of the village, nurtured by the village, his sense of worth and identity underlined his passion for service. Fair thee well my friend knowing that your travels on this earth will not be forgotten.

    Wesley, you will sadly missed, first meet him at WI v ENG cricket many years ago, then met up with him for 2 yrs in London for the Marathon and looked forward to seeing him every November.
