Lone star attracts Man Utd Ferguson

The Lone Star Restaurant in Mount

Standfast, St. James, has quickly become

a popular watering hole for the rich and

famous –– sports personalities in particular.

Two years ago Barbados TODAY

chatted with former Manchester United

and England international Andy Cole at that

location. He, as several locals and visitors to

the island have done before, had a grand time

experiencing excellent Bajan cuisine

and camaraderie.

Yesterday, someone with whom Cole

would have rubbed shoulders on many

occasions, also made the trek to the Lone

Star Restaurant. Manchester United’s

legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson is

vacationing in Barbados and not surprisingly

attracted plenty of attention from his many

fans and supporters of Manchester United

when he showed up. He signed autographs

and mingled with locals as well as a few

British visitors who were at the bar

at the time.

Ferguson, who stepped down as

Manchester United manager last May, was

in charge of the club for 26 years, during

which time he won 38 trophies, including

13 Premier League and two UEFA

Champions League titles.
