Trinidadian woman on drug charges

A Trinidadian woman who arrived in Barbados yesterday is facing four drug charges after cocaine was found in bottles of cosmetics in her luggae.

Charlen Ulanda Ferguson, 33, is expected to appear in the District “B” Magistrates’ Court tomorrow accused of possession of 1.74 kilos of cocaine, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.

Police say she arrived from Trinidad around 10:40 am yesterday and was interviewed by Drug Squad personnel after she cleared immigration.

Ferguson was referred to Customs, where a search was conducted but nothing was found.

She was then taken to Oistins Police Station under suspicion of having a controlled substance and when a more detailed search of her luggage was conducted, liquid cocaine was found in 218 bottles of cosmetics in a box.
