Police make large cocaine haul

KINGSTON — Cocaine valued at J$31.275 million was seized at the Kingston Container Terminal early this morning.

According to the police, at about 2 a.m., the Transnational Crimes and Narcotics Division, along with the Canine Division and the Contraband Enforcement Team of the Customs Department conducted a joint operation at Gordon Cay, Port Bustamante.

Sixty containers were searched on the cargo vessel CFS Pamplona, which originated from Colombia, destined for Israel.

A 40ft container with natural mango juice was found to contain three knapsacks with 31 parcels of cocaine, weighting 76.8 pounds, the police reported. No one was arrested. (Observer)
