Super soca energy

regionaltrinidadisbluePORT OF SPAIN – It was short but the energy it generated from the crowd was by far the most explosive in five days of midday soca entertainment at Woodford Square, Port of Spain.

The much anticipated performance of soca veteran Austin SuperBlue Lyons sent thousands of fans into a waving frenzy when he took to the stage yesterday, bringing bmobile’s Soca in bSquare week-long concert series to an end.

The lunch-time concerts featured some of this country’s top soca artistes, most of whom would be competing next week Friday as they seek to secure the Power and Groovy International Soca Monarch titles.

Lyons is one of the favourites to be crowned this year’s Power Soca Monarch, returning to the soca arena after an absence of over a decade with his song Fantastic Friday.

In the minutes leading up to his 15-minute performance which began around 1 p.m., the crowd visibly began becoming impatient as shouts of “Super, Super!” began filling the air, even as Shurwayne Winchester together with back-up dancers provided entertainment. (Express)
