B'dos flour still blocked by T&T

Barbados flour is still being kept off the supermarket shelves of Trinidad and Tobago market — close to a month after it was first being blocked.

The Trinidad authorities had insisted that the commodity, which is manufactured by Barbados Mills Limited, undergoes testing to determine if its ingredients satisfied them.

Executive Director of the Barbados Manufacturers Association, Bobby Mckay told Barbados TODAY this afternoon that there had been a delay in having the flour tested, due to a breakdown of the testing machine in the twin island republic.

However, McKay noted that a sample went off today to be examined.

“We will have to wait now for the results. I don’t know how long we will have to wait, so no flour has been allowed in as yet,” added the BMA executive.

Earlier, Pine Hill Dairy milk had been barred from entering Trinidad due to labeling difficulties, but that matter has since been resolved. (EJ)
