Former Prime Minister Owen Arthur today described as nothing more than a “vicious rumour” reports of his demise.

Arthur, who is in Jamaica on a regional assignment, said he was alive and well and is due to return home on Thursday.

He was reacting to rumours on social media of his death. Arthur said he had been inundated with phone calls from concerned Barbadians.

This is silly. If Mr. Arthur had died, we would be in national mourning all now, as he is a former Prime Minister. Don’t we Bajans have better things to do than go about spreading rumours?

There is no need to be so hostile. Why are you so offended? Did you also help spread the rumour?

Cheripha Connell , though Char-Char Mc Collin words in the statement can be a pinch sharp, the point being made is well taken. What evidence do you have to support your statement that the rumor came from a bajan or Bajans ? And what would they gain from such a rumor ?

What would non Barbadians gain by starting a rumour like that about Mr. Arthur? I am not wasting anymore time with this discussion. I have better things to do.

Whoever started this rumor certainly has some serious animosity on one of the great prime ministers of all-time.
Keep the faith, Owen Arthur, and don’t let those naysayers stop you from doing what you’re doing. You’re a star*.
