Bail after three months on remand

courtA Spencer Gap, Baxters Road, St Michael resident who had been on remand since August on cocaine and cannabis charges, was today granted bail.

Charles Foltone Bellamy, an unemployed 52-year-old, is accused of possession, trafficking and intent to supply cocaine on August 13, along with possession of cannabis on the same date.

He denied all four drug charges when he first appeared before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.

When he reappeared today, police prosecutor Sergeant Janice Ifill, who had strongly opposed bail on previous occasions, told the magistrate: “Ma’am, we are no longer objecting to bail for this accused.”

With one surety, Bellamy secured his $2 000 bail release. He will return to court on January 11, 2017.
