Barbados under flood warning

The Barbados Meteorological Office has issued a flood warning for the island following persistent rainfall overnight and this morning. Residents in flood-prone areas are advised to continue to exercise caution.

A statement issued this morning said over the last several hours a trough system interacting with the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone has been generating cloudy to overcast skies, pockets of moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain and occasional gusty winds across Barbados.

The Met office added that some flash flooding has already been reported and these conditions are expected to persist during the morning, with a gradual improvement likely by afternoon.

I wonder if this is part of the drought that them stupid people at BWA and in the DLP always talking about.A whole night and day of lovely water is going to make it’s way into the sea and then to pay million$ of dollars to bring it back on land.I guess for 50 years we ani’t too smart

You can apply for the job of Water Harvester at BWA since you seems to know how to get the job done.

I am still trying to figure out what the rain that is falling now has to do with the drought that we experienced over the last couple years. Everybody was crying out for how hot it was, how parched outside was and the earth cracking, how nothing was growing because WE WERE NOT GETTING ANY RAIN. Even so far for this year we have not had any significant amount of rainfall to boast about.

Yes the BWA can improve greatly on what it does but the truth is, the Caribbean has suffered from very low rainfall for the last couple of years and it has affected a number of countries. Jamaica had it bad, St. Kitts/Nevis and others were in the news talking about their water issues.

I wish we would just drop the silly talk about 50 years and attaching every darn issue to 50 years as though Barbados was only in existence for 50 years. What does being smart or intelligent or wise or doing your job well have to do with 50 years?

Immature thinking and speaking seem to be the order of the day seasoned with partisan politics.
