Woman admits to having weed

courtA 23-year-old woman from St Michael recently pleaded guilty to possession of $170 worth of cannabis.

According to police prosecutor Sergeant Neville Watson, Ashley Jamila Hewitt of Dukes Alley, Nelson Street, St Michael was arrested and charged on October 28, after lawmen executed a search warrant at the house in which she was staying around 8:15 a.m.

The search uncovered 34 wrappings which contained the cannabis.

When asked to account, Hewitt told the police at the time: “Them is mine.”

Appearing before Magistrate Douglas Frederick recently, Hewitt initially told the court she had nothing to say on the matter.

However, she would reveal moments later: “It is not something I does do. I just say ‘let me try it’.”

Following conversation with Hewitt, the magistrate ordered a pre-sentencing report.

She returns to the No. 1 District ‘A’ Court on December 9.
