Psychiatric evaluation for theft accused
A 59-year-old St Michael man was remanded to the Psychiatric Hospital today when he appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court charged with theft.
Patrick Mark Bascombe, of Gills Road, Greenfield, appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick accused of stealing $939. 80 on October 21 belonging to the Bread Shop Variety.
However, he was not required to plead after he began rambling when the magistrate asked him whether he was guilty or innocent on the charge before the court.
Bascombe was sent for evaluation at the Black Rock-based institution until November 16.
In a separate matter, 48-year-old Eden Elizabeth Frederick was granted $2 000 bail when she appeared before the No.1 District ‘A’ magistrate today on a theft charge.
Frederick, of Brereton, St Philip, is accused of stealing a $600 cellular phone and a case worth $45 belonging to Lorraine Burkeley.
She was not required to plead to the offence and was released with a surety.
Her case was transferred to the District ‘B’ Magistrates’ Court, where she is scheduled to reappear on October 31.
