No surety, no bail for Bennett

A 44-year-old man landed himself behind bars at HMP Dodds today after he was unable to secure a surety for his bail.

Jeffrey Ricardo Bennett, of #10 Husbands Land, Grazettes, Long Gap, St Michael, is accused of stealing $1,000 belonging to Haroon Raja.

The offence allegedly occurred on August 5, this year.

When Bennett appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the No.1 District ‘A’ Criminal Court this afternoon, he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

There was no objection from the police prosecutor to the magistrate granting his bail, but the accused man had no surety.

As such, he was remanded into custody until November 14.
