Teen fined for traffic offences

courtA 19-year-old who was on remand for the past three days on two traffic offences is now free.

Jaquan Janeil Stoute, of Kendal Hill B, Christ Church, was allowed to go after being fined for the offences when he reappeared in the Oistins Magistrates’ Court today.

He was ordered by Acting Magistrate Alliston Seale to pay a total of $1,300 for driving on Silver Hill Road, Christ Church on October 9 without a driver’s licence or insurance.

He had pleaded guilty on Tuesday but was remanded after admitting to the magistrate that he had been driving without a licence “for a while now”.

When he returned to court today, Stoute was fined $1,000 which must be paid in two months or he will spend a year in prison for having no insurance. He was fined $300 to be paid in three weeks with an alternative of six months behind bars, for driving without a licence.

He was represented by attorney-at-law Arthur Holder.
