American visitor held for drugs

Members of the Drug Squad have formally charged an American visitor for a number of drug related offences which were committed at the Grantley Adams International Airport on the Tuesday, October 11.

She is 26-year-old Juhair Hussain Mohammed Al-Hulais.

Charges include possession of 15 pounds of cannabis with an estimated street value of $60,000, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.

Police said Al-Hulais arrived on the island by air on Tuesday, October 11. Having cleared immigration, she proceeded to customs where a search of her suitcase was conducted by a customs officer who discovered three boxes with soap powder labels. A search of these boxes revealed 44 transparent wrapped packages containing cannabis. She was subsequently handed over to the police along with her luggage.

Al-Hulais was arrested and charged for the offences and appeared before the District ‘B’ Magistrates’ Court today where she pleaded guilty and was remanded to Her Majesty Prison Dodds. The visitor is due to return to court on October 18 for sentencing.

Never equate a smuggler with a smoker, nor equate a name with a religion.
