Two injured in Spring Garden collision

Two people were injured today after a motorcar collided with a taxi along the Spring Garden Highway around 1:45 p.m. The maroon Nissan motorcar was driven by 30-year-old Melissa Banfield of Oxnards, St James and the silver Toyota taxi by 34-year-old Ralston Alleyne of Wanstead Heights, St James.

Police reported that the vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when the head-on collision occurred.

Both drivers complained of pain in the neck, back and stomach.

Alleyne was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) by ambulance while Banfield sought private medical attention by way of private car.
