Two walk after witnesses fail to testify
Day two of an actual bodily harm trial involving two men took an unexpected turn in the No. 5 Supreme Court today.
Principal Crown Counsel Elwood Watts reported that two critical witnesses in the case against Terrell Tarior Mayers, also known as Spuzzy of Phillips Road, Cleavers Hill, St Joseph, and Ryan Omar Samuel, alias Rusty, of Grape Hall, St Lucy, were no longer willing to give evidence in the matter.
And Madam Justice Jacqueline Cornelius had no choice but to direct the nine-member jury to return a not guilty verdict against the two who were charged with causing actual bodily harm to the late Rico Depeiza of Checker Hall, St Lucy on May 21, 2011.
Yesterday, three police officers gave evidence in the case.
