Reprimanded and discharged for small amount of weed

courtA 36-year-old man from Christ Church was reprimanded and discharged after appearing in court on drug charges.

Junior Peter Depeiza, of Lot 50 Gibbons Terrace was accused of having 1.3 grammes of cannabis on October 5.

According to the facts read by prosecutor Sargeant Janice Ifill, lawmen were on mobile patrol along Alkins Land, Black Rock, St Michael when they saw a white Toyota Corolla.

Officers smelled burnt cannabis and stopped the car. During a search of the vehicle and its occupants, five greaseproof wrappings containing cannabis were found in Depeiza’s right pants pocket.

Asked to account for it, the accused reportedly said: “Officer, that is my weed.”
