Rape accused remanded
A 25-year-old St Michael man charged with two serious offences was remanded to HMP Dodds yesterday.
Dabien Alfonzo Went of Brighton Main Road, Black Rock is charged with having sexual intercourse with a minor.
He was not required to plead to the offence, which allegedly occurred on September 30.
However, Went pleaded not guilty to using the following threatening words to Tim Miller on May 15, 2016: “I gine remember your face. I gine chop you up.”
Went, who had no attorney, apologized to the court after he was asked by Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant to explain why he should be granted bail.
“I would like to beg the court to have mercy on me . . . This is my first time . . . Ma’am, I am really sorry,” he said.
He was remanded into custody until October 31.
