UPDATE-Warrens complex reopens

The all-clear has been given by the Barbados Fire Service (BFS) for Tower#2 of the Warrens Office Complex to reopen for business immediately.

This follows a 10AM evacuation of the estimated 300 workers from the office facility after a chemical leak from a battery sent a pungent scent throughout the 10-storey building.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Acting Inspector Roland Cobbler, who was at the scene, reported to Barbados TODAY that the battery has since been removed and a full security sweep  carried out. He also said the official all-clear was given at around 1.35 PM.

However,  up to 2.30PM this afternoon some departments, including the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA), were yet to reopen to the frustration of waiting customers.
