UPDATE-Tropical storm warning discontinued for Barbados

Barbados has discontinued its warning for Tropical Storm Matthew.

However, local forecasters say some occasional showers and thunderstorms are still possible throughout tonight, as the system moves away from the island.

Following is BULLETIN # 3 issued by the Barbados Met office at 10 p.m. Wednesday.

“EFFECTIVE 10PM ( 0200UTC) THE BARBADOS METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES HAS DISCONTINUED THE TROPICAL STORM WARNING FOR BARBADOS.

AT 8:00 P.M …0000Z…THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM MATTHEW WAS LOCATED NEAR

LATITUDE 13.9 NORTH…LONGITUDE 62.4 WEST OR ABOUT 205 MILES… 331KM…WEST NORTHWEST OF

BARBADOS. MATTHEW IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST NEAR 15 MPH… 24KM/HR

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 65MPH… 100KM/HR…WITH HIGHER GUSTS.

STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 205 MILES, (335KM) PRIMARILY TO THE NE OF THE

CENTER. ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1004MB…29.65 INCHES.

SOME OCCASIONAL SHOWERS AND A FEW ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE STILL POSSIBLE THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT AS THE SYSTEM CONTINUES TO TRACK WESTWARD AWAY FROM BARBADOS.

THIS WILL BE THE FINAL BULLETIN ISSUED ON THIS SYSTEM BY THE BARBADOS METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES FOR BARBADOS.

      The warning has been given I take to mean that we are under no threat of anymore severe weather . I won’t expect the all clear to be given until after sun up and they have a chance to properly view the island

      No maam,the lady said the “all clear” would not have been given during that night as the people at the Met Office where the” all clear” originates said that the next update would have been made at 6.00 am the next day.

    well at least matt is leaving the island, and going onto the Atlantic ocean, where he will be acting on his next ride. I think its heading for Florida and other main coasts of the US.
