Brathwaite caught with cocaine apparatus
A 43-year-old Christ Church man has to find $750 in six weeks or, alternatively, spend nine months behind bars at HMP Dodds.
David Austin Brathwaite of Gibbons Boggs admitted to possession of an apparatus intended for the use of cocaine when he appeared before Acting Magistrate Alliston Seale.
According to the facts presented in court, members of a police patrol spotted the accused man walking along Breedy land, Silver Sands, Christ Church around 3 a.m. on September 26. Brathwaite, who was carrying a haversack on his back at the time, was asked to stop and he complied.
He was also asked to account for his whereabouts and allegedly said he had just left his girlfriend’s residence and was searching for bottles.
A subsequent search revealed a silver pipe and a transparent bottle with the top cracked open and dark dust at the top. The items were found in Brathwaite’s right front pocket.
He was asked to account and allegedly said: “Officer I use it to smoke dope.”
