We have to remember . These pageants are not based on looks alone. A great % is interview questions. You must have someone to represent your country in lots of things other than looks. Since I wasn’t there(wish I was) choice of dress is important too. Red dresses and white are big winners. Stopping right there.

Straight out of barbie white land. It’s blatant disrespect of intelligence and identity. This big winner talk is caucasian BS.

In all my many years of watching Miss Barbados Beauty pageant shows. This young lady Shannon Harris is by far the most beautiful Miss Barbados to date. Neither Miss Barbados World nor Barbados Universe before her can compare. For the first time ever Barbados will place in an international beauty pageant show. Let me be facetious here and say She is like Rihanna and Obadele, one of her parents or both were born somewhere else. If not then her grandparents. I can think of two other ladies that won the Miss Barbados title that were not born in Barbados. Liz Wadman from Canada, and Roslyn Williams born in Trinidad.

Seagul. You should be shame. You black and you choose a name like seagull. A WHITE bird. I’m sure you work for a white owned company.

Dont you think this stupid nonsense should stop. People are caught up with race creed eyc cut each human being created by God and what colour blood you get RED. All of we come from two people Adam and Eve. So there. She is barbadian end of story. Stop living in the past and get on with present and the future. Its not the outside of man but ehat comes from within. There is wickedness in all. No man is perfect if you think you are go back to the drawing. The only other barbadian to reach the final ten was Linda Fields and she was from arawak descendant.

You people should be ashamed of yourselves, if you would have taking the time to follow the competition, you would’ve seen his amazing Shannon was. She is also Barbadian and a pleasant person to be around. I take it that you people were not present last night and could not see for yourselves but choose to judge her character based on her race. You sound silly.

Seagul, it is a sad reality that the only thing that some Black Bajans learned from a painful racist colonial experience is how to turn the tables and be racist toward those who are no longer in power

The black, white and grey seagul bird’s origin is African and it’ll be better to find something intelligent to say instead of fixating on who I work for. The man I work for is not white or black, his name is JAH. If someone can state that these pageants are not based on looks. Then a few lines on they say red dresses and whites are big winners. I mean for someone to win you over because of the color of a dress is an insult, is it not.

If that was a Black Woman up front and center , most of you would be saying “how half naked she look” , but you find the time to cut “SEAGUL” apart . Everyone have the right to voice his/her opinion.

The racist comments sound ignorant as–she is the winner by their set criteria and she is beautiful.
Only insecure losers need to attack a young girl making positive strides in her life.
Congratulations and good luck to Shannon!

Well I hate to say it but that’s as far as she will make it. Barbados doesn’t get it when it comes to the title of Miss Universe. They need to study the girls from South America and Trinindad before they can have a winner of the title. It’s way more than a skin color and a pretty face!

A bundle of garbage it’s BLATANT RACISM ! ! ! I have had white folks ask me how come a white woman is representing Barbados . This is not the first time that Barbados ( Little England ) has had a token white girl up front and center .
    . . . . and black bajans are accepting this ?

BARBADOS (Naked Departure) — MISS UNIVERSE BARBADOS — Naked, people here in Barbados don’t like to see the truth, but let me tell you some things leading up to the Miss Barbados Universe Pageant and the crowning of THE WHITE WOMAN TO REPRESENT BARBADOS.

The white girl’s manager, Damien Gooding, was in cahoots with the Barbados Tourism Authority and that Pageant holder. You see Naked, Damien is her manager and he and all his inexperience was giving the summer campaign to shoot for the BTA.

Let me just say this… first the racist comments are ridiculous …read your books people more that half of barbadian population is mixed race for heaven’s sake…why should we disregard one heritage for another because one dominated one in earlier years of our beginning …history documents Africans sold themselves into slavery …And if not for the so called white man none of you would be able to call yourselves barbadian they brought our ancestors to the island we call home get over yourselves ppl ..this is why the outside world thinks we live in huts and are savages…if we forever snipe at our own just because of skin colour then how can they see us any different.

As for poster ch you are correct …it is a set criteria for everyoneand Shannon won. I know the girl who came second and they refused to allow her to represent Barbados in any pageants for the mere fact that She a bajan born with a guyanese mom …and she is black Stupse …get of your soap boxes and realise that this is about unifying a country and have the best of the best represent us against the world …so get over slavery already it happened for the love of God …the only people who can oppress us are ourselves.
