Drugs found in boxes of wet wipes
Two men pleaded guilty yesterday to several drug offences three years after being charged.
Duane Dwight Pilgrim of Raven’s Court, Marley Vale, St Philip and Esrkine Adolphus Smith of Layne’s Road, Paynes Bay, St James were charged on April 11, 2013 with importation, possession, possession with intent to supply and trafficking of cannabis.
In presenting the facts, the police prosecutor revealed that the drugs were shipped from the United States of America to Barbados by the two men.
The cannabis was allegedly concealed in two transparent bags in blue/white boxes of wet wipes.
They apparently gave another man the job of clearing the shipment at the Bridgetown Port.
Magistrate Douglas Frederick gave the duo three months to pay the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court $5,000 each or an alternative nine months imprisonment.
