Puerto Rican held with drugs onboard cruise ship

Puerto Rico national Jems Luis Fernandez Sierra was today fined $750 forthwith with the alternative of one month at HMP Dodds for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Magistrate Douglas Frederick handed down the sentence after the 24-year-old student pleaded guilty in the District ‘A’ No 1 Court.

According to the facts, Sierra disembarked from the Adventure of the Seas cruise ship around 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday and spoke with a male on the outside who sold him the illicit drugs.

The cannabis, that had an estimated street value of $10, was found in his glasses case after security personal conducted a search on the gangway.

The matter was reported to the ship’s captain who turned Sierra over to police.

He admitted knowledge of the substance saying that he used the cannabis as medication for his asthma.

Sierra was handed over into the custody of immigration officals as the fine was paid.
