Dutch visitor sent packing

A visitor from the Netherlands who not only overstayed his welcome in Barbados but also refused to pay his hotel bill was handed over to immigration officials today.

Olaf Cornelius Antonus Peters admitted to Acting Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on September 2 that he did not pay Rostrevor Hotel in St Lawrence Gap the $960 owed.

The 44-year-old had been on remanded at HMP Dodds after he was unable to post the $1,500 bail offered by the court.

He was convicted, reprimanded and discharged for the offence and turned over to immigration.

It seems a tourist can get away with just about anything in little England. If this is the picture we are painting for our youth, we are heading over a cliff in our system.

Seagul. Wouldn’t it have cost more to keep him here for 3 months. Around $9,000.00 or deport him at $1500.00. Do not be p nay wise and pound foolish.
