Murrell held for loitering
The antecedents of Mario Michel Rommel Lamar Murrell came back to haunt him yesterday.
The 27-year-old Piedmont Park, Grazettes, St Michael resident was remanded into custody at HMP Dodds after he appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court on two charges.
According to the charge sheet read by Acting Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick, the unemployed man is accused of loitering in the residence of Sandra Went on September 7 with intent to commit theft.
It is also alleged that he loitered in the residence of Ron Walrond on the same day and intended to commit criminal damage.
He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Prosecutor Neville Reid said the accused was not a fit candidate for bail, briinging up Murrell’s past to support his contention.
“Your Worship, I object to bail based on his antecedents. The accused man is already on bail and the records indicate that he has not be attending court. Also Sir, for the protection of the society from the accused, as persons should be able to feel comfortable in, and enjoy the comfort of, their own home,” the prosecutor argued.
Frederick advised Murrell that there were too many factors against him and “we will have to keep you”.
“I understand Sir,” the accused replied.
Murrell is scheduled to reappear in the No 2 District “A” Magistrates’ Court on October 16.
